Book Review for “THE GO-GIVER” by Bob Burg and John David Mann ….recommended by LinkedIN expert Melonie Dodaro
First I want to say, this book is what I would/could/should have written for myself to give yours truly a WAKE UP CALL in life as it is one thing to be a “mature go-getter”….a self proclaimed “radical giver”
BUT if walking around with desperation and need in my voice and on my lips I can only focus on SELF vs THEM!
I GET THIS BOOK and The Five Laws!
Better yet, I am APPLYING IT IN MY LIFE…..and…..you should (I pray) as well!
First The Five Laws of Stratospheric Success are Laws of VALUE/COMPENSATION/INFLUENCE/AUTHENTICITY/RECEPTIVITY
Are defined as follows…..
Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment
Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them
Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first
The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself
The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving
Being a Go-Giver actually makes you a more effective Go-Getter
Success is the result of specific habits of action ….creating value….touching people’s lives…putting other’s
interests first….being real….and having the humility to stay open to receiving.
By giving we mean being a giving person….thought….attention…care….focus….time and energy….value.
If you focus on profit first you miss all kinds of opportunities.
Money is an echo of value. It is thunder to value’s lightening. The value comes first; the money you receive is the natural result.
Value is value….not price.
A GIVING SPIRIT is trusting that when you focus on others , your needs will be taken care of too.
When you make the shift from ME focus in their lives, dramatic and sometimes immediate results follow.
